I was lucky enough to be given a Polycom VVX 500 IP Phone. This page is about seting this IP pohne up on hamshack Hotline.
The first job was to register with Hamshack and request a "line" for thgis phone.

The second job was to return the IP phone to factory defaults. It should have been easy, but it was not easy.
The instructions advised the MAC address was the password. The phone refused to accept the password and I became convinced
that the phone was locked. It wasn't. It was only later I discovered the alphabetic characters
had to be entered in lower case and you had to wait 3 seconds between alphabetic characters. I tried many times and got the
incorrect pssword message. I only suceeded when I used the 1-3-5 keystroke to bring up the password entry screen immediatly after
a reboot and did not use the menu "SETUP" prompt. A power cycle is required each time you get it wrong which take about 30 seconds and then you
only have 7 seconds to press the 1-3-5 key combinations.
Except for a "*", there is no indication what is entered so a lot of guess.
Once I did get the password entered correctly the reset ran and even turned on the http service for me!
